A Day in the Sheaborhood

The Sheaborhood is a special place. It’s kind of a made up place. No one drew a boundary and said this here, points to a spot, is the Sheaborhood. Our best guess is that it starts at 32nd & Shea but expands in all directions. Heck, 92nd street and Shea could be the Sheaborhood too. All are welcome.

Phoenix Magazine was so kind to do a little write up about the Sheaborhood and we are so grateful to be listed as a place to eat. We also loved the idea so much that we decided to do our own little day in the Sheaborhood to help you find other places to see and things to do. Live like a local, if you will.

Here is a Saturday Afternoon in the Sheaborhood.

Start your day by sleeping in, have a cup of coffee and a light breakfast, then make your way to the Sheaborhood. We focused on 32nd & Shea in this edition.

Community Yoga opened and breathed yoga life back into the Sheaborhood. Located on Shea near 35th St.

Take an 11:00am Gentle yoga class with Evon at Community Yoga. This beautiful yoga studio is a new addition to our neck of the woods. Evon opened her doors a little over a year ago and has made a big impact in our hearts. Her classes are accessible and fun. All levels are welcome in this gentle experience.

Khao Soi from Sala Thai at 32nd and Shea.

Grab lunch at Sala Thai. May’s (the owner) dad opened up shop over 18 years ago. People in this neighborhood have watched May, and her siblings, grow up in this little restaurant. Our favorite dish is their Khao Soi, but you can’t go wrong with any of their dishes.

Now that your day has started off so beautifully, we invite you to go to Karen’s Hallmark store, located next to the Basha’s, and buy a card. Get it for someone you haven’t spoken to in a while and mail it to them right then and there. There’s a post office in the back of the store. Your old friend will be so excited to hear from you.

Finally, you can pat yourself on the back for an afternoon well spent, and we pat you on the back for coming here to share a little bit of your day with us.

Stay tuned for another day in the Sheaborhood coming next month.
