Incredible trail with an excellent reward at the end. Expect amazing views on your way back. The elevation gain can feel like a lot on a hot day so go early. Otherwise, it's not too steep.

South Mountain

Fat Man’s Pass via Mormon Trail
3.7 Miles
928 feet of elevation gain
This is a lollipop trail, so you’ll go out and return on the same trail but make a little loop at the end. It’s so fun and steep initially, but nothing too crazy. Take your time and go slow. Enjoy the view, and remember that it’s all downhill at the end.

This trail is not for the faint of heart. Kidding. It’s steep but fun. You'll enjoy spectacular views of four peaks. Make sure to touch the thumb! We hear it's good luck.

If you want a less challenging stroll with great views and lots of makers with geological information. It's an educational stroll through the desert!
